I’m that girl
I’m that girl with glasses who is sitting in the back
I’m that girl who isn’t there, and is always way off track
I’m that girl with braces that no one ever sees
I’m that girl who falls asleep crying to her knees
I’m that girl who’s invisible, and yet I’m always watching
I’m that girl who stares at those girls always laughing and talking
I’m that girl who tries to believe that I will be seen from the core
I’m that girl who’s next to believe it’s impossible more and more
I’m that boy who aces class and gets laughed at in my face
The boy who’s extra large, and can’t make it to the end of the race
I’m that boy who gets caught writing poems, who’s waiting for a friend
I’m that boy who’s sure as hell I’ll be alone in the end
I’m that boy who hides a secret, one even Mom can’t discover
I’m that boy who hasn’t eaten from one month to another
I’m that boy who’s weakened now, in the limbs and heart
I’m that boy who knows for sure I was a mistake from the start
I’m that girl who’s just sixteen, and I think I’m in love with a boy
I’m that girl who doesn’t know that I’ll always just be his toy
I’m that girl who fights the truth, and struggles to make it not showing
I’m that girl who desperately prays that her belly will stop growing
I’m that girl who’s one month in and scared that people will see
I’m that girl who can’t get abortion, because of her lack of money
I’m that girl who has a dad that hits her, going wild
I’m that girl who has a dad that killed her baby child
I’m that man who lives alone, with one kid and no wife
I’m that man who hits my son out of pain and strife
I’m that man who smokes in the kitchen, my mind flying up to the sky
I’m that man who’s known as the man who’s always drunk or high
I’m that man who uses my son as a medicine ball
I’m that man who doesn’t care who sees his bruises at all
I’m that man who has a son that thinks his home is hell
I’m that man who’s pretty much ready to say farewell
I’m that women, sixty years old, never had a man
I’m that women who’s in a box, here alone I stand
I’m that women who never thought she’d end up having to grovel
I’m that women who always dreamed of publishing my novel
I’m that women with a broken dream and a broken life
I’m that woman that tries to forbid the tears that fall at night
I’m that woman who smiles when I find a stupid dime
I’m that woman who people believe is just wasting their time
I’m that teen who’s writing this poem, thought of it from the start
I’m that teen who’s telling you confessions of a broken heart
I’m that teen who really knows pain, and how hard it can attack
I’m that teen with many regrets, and so much I could take back
I’m that teen who’s writing this to show you you’re not alone
I’m that teen who knows that although it may not be shown
There is someone that loves you, that’s always by your side
A person that always has your back, and prevents your life to collide
I’m that girl with glasses who is sitting in the back
I’m that girl who knows a girl that’s also way off track
I know a girl that I can relate to so much to in the end
I’m that girl who can finally say, “I have got a friend”.
I’m that boy who aces class and gets laughed at in my face
I’m that boy who kicks some ass at writing and getting first place
I’m that boy who knows a girl who loves him just for him
I’m that boy who eats for her, he eats for his Kim
I’m that girl who’s just sixteen, and I think I’m in love with a boy
Just to find out that in the end, he’s just a stupid toy
I’m that girl who has a dad that may have killed my child
But I’m that girl who lives with Pam, and her love doesn’t come mild
I’m that man who lives in a home with one kid and no wife
I’m that man who thinks he’s alone, and can’t see past all the strife
I’m that man who hits my son, though I know it’s wrong
I’m that man who’ll make a change, ‘cause me and my son will walk strong
I’m that woman sixty years old, never had a man
I’m that woman who figures out I don’t need a ring on my hand
I’ll get up on my “tired” feet, grab paper and my self-esteem
I’ll write down my amazing book and catch my long-lost dream
I’m the teen who’s writing this poem, thought of it from the start
I’m the teen who’s telling you, you can mend your broken heart
It’s possible, and though it’s hard, we all have the strength somewhere deep
And when you find it, that strength and this poem are two that you will keep
